Right now I have a coax cable running from the digital box to my HDTV. Would it make any difference if I used an HDMI cable fom the box to the tv instead of coax? (again, I don't have HD programming)

  1. Not really.  The HDMI cable is used to get a better picture for an HD signal such as 720 or 1080 signals.  Your normal 480 is what comes through the television with a standard cable (SDTV which means standard definition).  You could get an improved signal using a component video cable, but it's not worth the cost of an HDMI in order to get what would be an unnoticeable upgrade to your picture if any without having and HD broadcast.

  2. It might help a little bit more because the digital cables help shield out noise interference but if you do not have HD programming, you will probably not see a difference.

  3. Yes, use the HDMI connection from the receiver (if there is one) and then attach an off air antenna to the tv using the coax port and tune it to the HD off air channels broadcast in your area, if any.  Some HD is better than no HD.
