i have discus, neon tetras, corydoras in my 120 gal tank, i am adding guppies, dwarf gouramis, more neon tetras and an electric blue crayfish, i am sure that the other fish will be fine, but i am worried for my fish, i dont know how to take care of a crayfish, and i dont know if the water temperature and the soft water will be "ok" for his environment. will the match between the lobster and the fish work out? the nipping and territorial things i can live with, i'm just worried about temp and water hardness. i dont want to cook him alive ya know? i have heard so many different things on the internet that for me there arent enough solid facts other than the tech name for them for me to be comfortable with the answers.... please help.!

  1. no not really, the lobster will eat a few fish and the lobster will also die if you use soft water.

                                             hope this helps

PS:If you take out the lobster it should do ok.

  2. Well the lobster will eat the fish, and the Dwarf Gouramis is very territorial and if some fish get in his territory he could hurt them.

  3. Absolutely not.  The soft water will slowly lead to shell degredation.  It will likely die after a molt or two.  They need hard water with plenty of calcium for their shell.  Not only that, they are prone to grabbing chunks of slow moving fish.

  4. The biggest problem will be the disappearing fish from the lobster.  If you don't mind it eating a few now and then, it should be okay.  However, it will need a solid source of calcium if you've got soft water (lacking in calcium bicarbonate).  If you can find calcium supplements to soak its food in, or get it to eat broccoli every couple of days, it could be okay, but it would be better off in considerably harder water...
