I am watching dish network on my computer and I want to be able to change the channel on my computer without having to go to the living room and changing it there.

  1. You NEED the box....it CONVERTS the Satellite signals to USE-ABLE TV signals....

Your TV does not have the circuitry to convert it, so you NEED another box in your computer room....

IN FACT you actually need  NUMBER TWO  <<RF OUTPUT>>  from the box, with the NUMBER TWO   Remote in your computer room !!

You see, the NUMBER TWO output (or 3 or 4 if you have them)  on your box is connectable to your computer's RF cable.....

And those outputs are the same as NUMBER ONE  --Except there is a REAL DIFFERENCE in the remote controls.....

Number one remotes must be in the SAME ROOM as the box....

But NUMBER TWO and above remotes can be ANYWHERE in the house and STILL CHANGE CHANNELS !!

That's what you want .......you want the number two remote, with the RF transmitter, so it will pass it's signal thru walls and around corners and NEAT STUFF like that !

Not the IR tranmitter like number one has....it doesn't pass thru walls and around corners...it has to be in the same room as the box is in......

It certainly is CHEAPER than getting a Second box in your computer room .

  2. The TV tuner card will only demodulate RF signals. I assume that you've run coax from the Dish box to your PC, with the Dish box remodulating onto channel 3 or 4. If that's the case, then you're probably stuck with a trip back to the living room.

You might check into one of the RF remote control systems to control you Dish box.
