  1. OK, lets play divide and conquer.

    1. Can you get ANY picture on the TV?  A channel number, input name, an Over The Air channel?  If not, then try another TV.

    2. Can you get ANY picture from the Dish box?  Menus?  Installation Screen?  If so, then go to step three.  If not, Check the connection between the TV and the box.  If you are using the antenna input is the TV on the correct channel?  Is there a power light on the box.  If all of this seems correct, your box probably has a problem.

    3. If you can get to the installation menu of the box, what does it say the signal strength is?  If it is low, check the aim of the dish, make sure no trees or plants have grown up in front of the dish.  You may also have a failed LNC (the amplifier in the center of the dish).

    I hope this helps.

  2. This happens a lot this time of year. Most people do not realize that something has grown in the path of your dish. Most likely this started to happen after winter ended and got worse and worse until it did not work one day. Or you just noticed that it was not working one day. I have seen neighbors trees that have grown in the way. I have seen where an animal has eaten through the coax cable before it went into the basement.

Your best bet is to get a tech out there to look at it. They might have to move or relocate the dish. They might have to run a new cable. I have seen connectors go bad, then the signal is gone. Any way you look at it, if you are not a pro at this you might really have to pay for one to come out and look at it. If they can fix it, they will. I have had to tell people there is nothing I can do because of the neighbors tree growing in the way. They really get pissed off and mad at me, telling me I have to fix it. What am I supposed to do? Get a chain saw, go in the neighbors yard and cut their tree down? People have told me yes, do that. Some people get violent when there is nothing I can do to fix it. Good Luck, I hope it is something easy and cheap.

At dish we call it an LNB, it stands for Low Noise Blocking feedhorn. When those go you usually only lose some channels. Other channels still work when those go bad.
