Ok so I have done a lot of research on St. George. I like being on boats and beaches. I want a rum rizzle or whatever. So I am docking is St. George, I want to know if there is beaches in walking distance? I also want to take the ferry over to Hamilton is there any becahes over there. I was reading to get to elbow beach from St. George is two buses and takes 90 minutes. I only have 3 days and want to make the most out of it. Is the rich and famous cruise any good?? What about sunset cruises?? Also want to snokerl and what is there to do at night??

  1. The beaches are small when compared to most found in the U.S., ranging from as narrow as 15 yards to about half a mile. Set your mind on idle and let the sun go to your head on pink-tinged sands that seem to melt into the sea.

    Achilles Bay:

Small beach that's got great snorkeling and windsurfing. Not as crowded as Tobacco Bay. Gear rentals, changing room, snacks.

    Clearwater Beach and Park:

A 36-acre great-for-kids site that includes nature trails. Reid Clearwater Cafe is a good bet for snacks and light meals. Gear rentals for snorkeling, as well as chairs, lounges, towels and rafts. Changing rooms, showers and restrooms. Cooper's Island, off St. David's Island.

    Tobacco Bay:

Great snorkeling. You can see families of squid and even octopus. Gear rentals, umbrella rentals, changing room, snacks. Tends to get crowded with other cruise passengers.

  2. Tobacco Bay and Achilles Bay are about a 15-20 minute walk from where your boat will dock.  There is a Tourism Board office right in the town square - they will give you walking directions.   There are no beaches in Hamilton at all.   Your best bet to get to the beaches from St George is to take the ferry from St George to Dockyard, then get on the #7 bus at Dockyard, and tell the driver which beach you want to get off at.   Bear in mind, St. George is at the far east end of the island - it's going to take you a while to get anywhere, especially the South Shore beaches, as they are more toward the west end of the island - but hop on the bus - it is a great way to see the island - you will be at the beach before you know it.

Snorkeling is awesome - I love it.  Church Bay and the snorkel park at Dockyard are both good places to snorkel.  I like to snorkel at Grotto Bay Hotel, too.

Get your rum swizzles at the Swizzle Inn.

I've never done one of those cruises.

There is not a lot to to at night - nightlife is pretty scarce, particularly in St. George's.  Heritage Nights in St. George's and Harbour Nights in Hamilton are pretty cool - basically street fetivals.

  3. It has been a long time for me but when I was there the moped gets you everywhere in no time...the speed is around 15 miles per hour and very safe. Anyone can learn to ride one in minutes.
