  1. Buy a new one and have the HDD installed on the new computer as your 2nd HDD to recover you files.

  2. I recommend that you buy a new one and have the HDD copied on to the new computers  HDD to recover you files. The computer repair shop will charge you for the transfer service, but if the data is very important then the price is not important. The same thing happend to my laptop last year and the HDD transfer cost me $100.00. The new HDD was a lot bigger so the transfer was worth it.

  3. local computer shop is probably right.

You can pick laptops up for very reasonable prices these days and would probably be cheaper to get a new one than try to replace the screen.

You can remove the hard drive from your old laptop and buy a caddy for it which will allow you to use it as an external USB drive.  this will allow you to get at your data as well as leave you with a handy USB hard drive to back up to!

  4. The screen is the most expensive part, so if it's broke, the laptop is done for.  Time for a new one.  You can remove the hard disk. It's probably not damaged. You then need to transfer data on it to your new laptop.  You may be able to install it in an external disk unit and connect to the new laptop by USB cable.

  5. remove the laptops hard drive and bin whats left....you can get a lead/adapter from ebay to connect your laptop drive to your pc...simply installit, browse it and copy your stuff off....then keep the laptop drive in a safe place as a backup...
