I don´t think it is possible to have tripple citizenship, does anyone know the in and out details of a similar situation that can reflect any information to me about this.. I won´t be living in Turkey, but both AU and UK passports are valuable for travel purposes.

  1. Each country has its' own rulings on this. Australia is very particular about giving citizenship. It is quite common to have Australian and British citizenship.

You will have to contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)  and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship in order to sort this one out. I think that it is more likely to be the DFAT that will help you. You may also have to contact the Turkish Embassy.

There is a fair chance that the children will have dual or triple citizenship. I think that seeing that it is an Islamic country the father would have sole right to custody if the marriage failed and there were children.

You should have and maintain both you Australian and UK passports. Here are some web sites that might help you to find out if you can have triple citizenship.

This will get you started at finding out whether you will get a third citizenship. I doubt that you will have to relinquish your own citizenship if you do go ahead and marry and live in Turkey.

All the best for the future!!!

  2. no you won't loose anything. i know a girl who is 17 years old and she is triple citzenship in greece, costa rica and the U.S.A

  3. You can have triple citizenship if none of the countries object.  Turkey will not interfere with you having other citizenships but marrying a Turk will not automatically give you Turkish citizenship.  You would have to apply for it and very likely live there for some time.

  4. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you loose your citizenship, if you have children with this man, your children will be able to have dual citizenship.
