I have embarq as my home phone provider, ppl are calling me and saying its ringing 3-4x on their end?

but on my end its ONLY ringing ONE time, whats up with this, anybody experience this what did u have to do to correct it? Thanks

Hi msmeka:The calling party is probably correct. The calling end ringing signal &  called end ringing are not sychronized. There are many different types of switching equipment out there.EX: Call originates NY, to Calif.The number you dialed is sent to Ca. to see if that line is busy or idle( high speed signal). If busy, theNY end gets busy locally. Talk path was never set up. If idle,Ca end is held available & a signal is returned to NY to set up the talk path.Ca end is told to ring customer& if answered,talk path established. If not answered,notalk path established.Calling end would probably get artificial ringing. I hope this was not too confusing.   exbelltel

it just depends on ur phone.when u call a number the phone doesn atomaticaly start ringing.  on their end it may ring 4 times when urs on does 1 or 2 its nothing to worry about:)
