I'm getting my first paycheck this week. To cash it OR to open a bank account, i need to have California ID.

I only have Social Security and expired green card..

can i get california id even though my green card expired? But i have birth certificate and my ssc.

How to get California id with expired green card? Since they're going to ask for my birth certificate and i'm not born here. Most likely they'll ask for the green card to proof i'm permanent resident.

or is there any way to cash my paycheck without identification?

  1. Some places will still cash it but they charge more

  2. You need to get your green card re-established.

Try signing your check over to someone else, having them deposit it into their account, and then have them give you cash for it.

They might want to wait a week to make sure the check is good before giving you the money though.

It is a matter of trust there, so be careful.

  3. What you need to do is go down to your local immigration office.  Bring a completed I-90, the fee, your expired green card, and a valid passport from your country.  Immigration will take your prints, stamp your passport with a temporary green card, and send you a new green card in the mail.  You cannot get a california ID with an expired green card.

  4. endorse the check to someone else then let them cash it
