  1. http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/...

It is 60 days!! See bottom of page under "How long may I stay on my F-1 student visa?"

  2. The date on your F1 visa is of no importance once you are inside of the United States. A visa is a document giving the holder permission to request entry into the United States and since you are already here, it is the date on your I-20 that determines your legality here in the U.S.

Check the date on your I-20, if that is still valid and you are still attending class and enrolled in 12 credit hours then you are still legal in the United States  regardless of the visa expirey date.

However, since the visa is about to expire. If you leave the United States to return home or go on vacation, then you must obtain a new F1 visa from a U.S. Embassy abroad. You will not be allowed to re-enter on an expired visa.
