Question:

I have fern like plants growing underneath my hedges?

How can I remove these without damaging my hedge pulling them up doesnt seem to work as they grow back.

  1. have you tried applying S B K to them on the leaf parts, mix it to the recommended Dose and if you can't spray then brush it on ,this should do it ,leave till they are very dead then the roots will succumb i reckon, it works well on nettles, thistles and most Woody plants. or keep cut with a hook or cutters of some type.


  2. I would fill the garden bed with some gravel or something thick to see what that would do. Only problem is that would cost a lot.

  3. If they are true ferns why don't you just leave them be. I have ferns growing out of the dry stone wall at the back of my house and they are lovely.

    If they are weeds and you pull them up they will just keep growing back. You need to remove the roots of weeds to stop them appearing again. There are lots of products on the market for killing weeds which can be bought in garden centres.
