  1. i wouldn't. they eat each other

  2. Nope...you are pretty stocked..upgrade and then maybe you can think of suitable additions...

  3. Have one inch of fish per every gallon. You probably have enough though, because each betta is probably 2 in.

  4. depends mabe one more

  5. Females don't fight as much as males.  You can keep more in the tank, but use caution, b/c sometimes they will fight.

  6. I wouldn't add any more as female bettas get to around 2 inches meaning your already stocked if going by the inch per gallon rule.  If you want to push it, you might be able to add 1 more.  You could add some mystery snails or ghost shrimp though.  They're pretty light on the bioload.  If you want any more females you should upgrade to a 20 gallon.

Female bettas are still territorial and semi-aggressive, meaning if you try and overcrowd them their aggressiness will become more pronouced and you'll start seeing some ripped fins.  Its also important for a soriety tank to be well planted with lots of hide outs which also takes away from the overall swim space.  That being said, a 20 gallon still allows for lots of decorating options while giving good swim space.

Here's a great resource about soriety betta tanks.

  7. No, NO, NO.

The answers above are very very uneducated and I recommend ignoring other peoples' stupidity.

    They are making guesses.

Here's an answer, short n' sweet. The least tank size for one betta, male or female is 5 gallons. You are only supposed to have 2 female bettas in there! You're over by 3 fish.

Don't add anymore or your fish will suffer and suffocate.

  8. Yes one more betta shouldnt hurt.

  9. You can, but i would say go for some tetras or something. Get a little variety! As long as you pick non-aggressive community fish you should be fine. (just don't let it get too crowded)

  10. i wouldnt fish get agravated when its to croweded sometimes  they wont be able to take it anymore that theyll try and jump out of the water

  11. Aside from my obvious curiosity as to how the female fish are getting along together in the first place, I am going to give you the general rule for semi aggressive and tropical fish. You want to have an inch per gallon for each fish. Lets say you have a 5 gallon tank, and each fish you want to put in it will get the maximum length of 1 inch, then you can put 5 fish in there happily.

Sometimes you can go over this limit a little bit, if you keep your tank extra clean, and check the water regularly (what the ph and amonia)

I would say with female betas getting from 2-4 inches each I would stop so everyone can stay healthy and happy(?).

  12. A female betta will get to be about 3" long so you are already overstocked plus they tend to get aggressive when crowded.  There's also the fact that an overstocked tank is usually very hard to maintain with good water quality.  A tank usually looks much nicer when it is decorated nicely with a few fish rather than having fish stacked on top of each other.

  13. against every body's believes here, female Betta's CAN be together as long as you have at least 3 of them, that they can establish their pecking order

if you have only 2, one will dominate the other

however, in your case, i wouldn't add any more Betta's though

instead add 3-5 Cory cats, which are bottom feeders to your tank

since obviously nobody does any research by themselves here, here is an article for you to read up on

    Edit 2*

the thumb down only proves my point

yes you really gotta love trolls

that's the most TD i got in a very long time, and that for a right answer

    very interesting

  14. Females do grow around 2-3 inches, and I seen monsters at 4 inches. Your 10 gallon is stocked as it is, best to add some otoclinus as algae eaters and not plecos. And live or fake plants.

  15. If the females you have get along then it would be ok to add another one or two. I would add them one at a time, though to make sure they adjust to the others.

  16. no.... in a 10g you should have 3 or 4 MAX .... for 5 i would advise a 20 or 30 gallon... you know they can be trrritorial, so just get 20g and be content with 5 =]

  17. No, thats a little croweded for fish

  18. you have too many already even if they are females. move up to a 20 gallon.

  19. i wouldnt

not too sure why you have 5 though

by now im sure youd have just one

you know they eat each other right?

    theyre japanese fighting fish .
