Question:

I have flat feet (only a teeny arch) and I can't seem to point my toes far enough for swimming kick. Related??

so basically I'm wondering if my flat feet have anything to do with the fact that I can't kick freestyle kick properly because I can't point my toes a lot. Are these totally different issues, or will I be able to point my toes more if lets say, I wear insoles.

I'm very concerned about this because you see, when I freestyle kick with proper technique , I move backwards >.<

Many thanks

  1. Don't think they are related, but you can do exercises to strengthen your toes & stretch your arches.

*Point & push your toes down toward sole of foot, then bend upward & stretch as much as possible. Do 30 repetitions.

*Stretch toes sideways & widen, then squeeze together. 30 reps.

*Pull feet up toward shin, then down as far as you can. Alternate & do for 30 reps each way.

*Rotate feet clockwise for 30X, then counterclockwise 30X.

They should increase your ability to point your toes.

Insoles couldn't hurt. Also different sneakers are made with different arch supports...get ones that are for low arches/flat feet.

    Good luck
