I have found a birds nest with 3 eggs and the mother has not been back for a week so what do i do?

Chances are the parents have been back to the nest and you didn't see them, but if not then the egg's would have chilled without the Mother sitting on them and they would be dead in the shell egg's.

Nothing you can do, but stay away from the nest so the parents will come back - if they are alive, other wise if dead the parents will not be back.

i'm *definitely* not an expert on this sort of thing, but i would imagine that if the mother truly hasn't returned for a week, that the embryos aren't "alive" anymore..

but i don't know for sure.

they are 99 percent chance already dead..    but 1% chance alive. so keep them warm incase

There is the possibility that the parents have been back..unless you watch the nest 24 hours a day you may be missing their visits.  If they are tending to it..let it be.  If they really have not been there for a week, then the eggs have been dead for a week and there is nothing that can be done.  In either case...just let nature take it's course.

The question is, how close did you get to the inside of the nest last week when you first noticed them?  The mother will not come back if foreign scents are in there.  If you touched an egg or the inside of the nest, then the mother is gone for good.

and yes, if the eggs are cold for a solid week...they are already goners.

If the mother has not been back for a week, the eggs have gotten to cold, and will not hatch.

My aunt had a bird's nest w/ eggs in it. The mother bird dissapeared for about a week. It finally came back and the eggs were fine and they hatched. I think it may be a normal part of the hatching. I wouldn't touch the eggs because if the mother comes back and her eggs are gone she might never come back. Give it another day or 2. If the mother bird still hasn't come back research how to take care of bird eggs and get the eggs and take care of them until they hatch. From there I don't know what you would do. Like how would you teach them how to fly???? IDK??
