I have found a "Relic " but Need Someone with knowledge to review it.?

Question

I have found a Relic, it is about 8 inches long, looks to be made from bone, has a perfect polished point, at the rear has a "U" shaped area seemingly to insert a pole or staff, You can clearly see the "lashing" marks where leather straps or hide would have been used to attach it to an exstension.

I live in Louisiana and acctually found this in my attic, ( I have a very old house). My question is: Who would one call for getting info on this relic for identification???

Call the anthropology department at your closest state college. If they can't help you, they'll be able to refer you to someone who can.

Your county government should have an anthropologist, mine does. They may keep it as the bone I submitted was kept.

Its hard to know what it is without looking at it, but if it is bifacial and fluted (it sounds like it is at least fluted) then it could be a Clovis Point. Clovis points vary in overall length.
