  1. Some hens need either more time to mature or more regular light.

I have four hens myself and only two lay... one buy my choice.

In my case, one of my chickens named "bird" needs more outside light but at the same time a private box.  Also since I sold the rooster, she's been more depressed.  Also, she loves to "play" with us and we haven't had as much time lately since the spring and summer brings so many new quail chicks and guineas.  She plays by flying up to our head or shoulder when called and then being held and petted.

The other non-laying chicken is simply maturing slower than her sisters.

  2. even If all the hens are of the same age & breed ,individual differences exist ,if your bird has just started laying ,give the others some time & they should soon follow .A well balanced diet helps, include as much variety in the form of greens & kitchen /reasonable table scraps ,into their existing diet ,then all you do is wait & watch .

  3. I think you might be able to fool them by putting golf balls or fake eggs into a nest. They might think that it's a safe place to lay their eggs.

  4. I dont think that they are ready yet. It takes some time. I dont think that there is anything wrong with them. It could be that they do not feel safe or maybe they did but they hid them. As you probably know once they get 12 they will sit on them and they will hatch. So unless you want more eggs.....look in hiding places. That is what by chickens did. They laid them somewhere outside of the pin that I would never look.

  5. sit on the chicken and maybe they'll pop some out. :)

  6. All chickens are different. Are they the same age? Same breed? If they arn't they won't lay until they are 5-6 months old. All chickens lay at different ages and such, even if they are the same age and breed. They can lay early or as old as a year. ALso the others could be roosters. As long as there not cockadoodledooing then they are hens. Or have spurs. Actually some hens have spurs.

You can get some Layer(oyster) and mix it with the scratch they are eating now. Give them some treats of romane lettuce(NOT iceburge, its bad), watermelon, and other fruits and veggies.
