  1. I drive my Mom's car a lot so she had her insurance add my name to her policy.  I was told that it wouldn't cost extra but it would ensure that she was covered in case I got into an accident in her car.  Just call your insurance and let them know your friend will be driving your car and they'll let you know what to do.

  2. Depends how old your friend is.

  3. It depends on the insurance company. Some companies will extend the comprehensive and collision (that's the part that covers the vehicle for any physical damage done a.k.a. the "full coverage") to other drivers as long as they're not living in the household, and they're not regular drivers. Some companies will extend the liability coverage ONLY. Some companies will extend coverage if you're of certain age. You can read the long booklet the insurance company sent your friend for the answer, or just call the insurance company themselves.

  4. Call and ask your insurance agent

  5. Only if you list your friend as an additional driver on the policy.  You should list everyone that will drive your vehicle.  The downside of this is that If they have a poor driving record then your rates will go up

  6. sure, and your insurance becomes primary over any insurance your friend has. my advice? friends don't let friends drive their cars. if they smash it up, well, no more friendship.

  7. Not likely, but check with your agent. Most companies require all drivers of the vehicle to be listed.

  8. I am fairly sure that when you sign up for your policy, you have to exclude certain members of your household from driving your vehicle, as they have the most access.  With this waver, they are not covered under your insurance.  However, my understanding is that the car is insured, not the driver.  If they drive your insured car, it should be covered.  If you drive your friends uninsured car, be careful.
