I have gestational diabetes - when my baby is born (c section) will she be rushed off to get her sugar tested?

  1. Yes..they will test his/her suger a couple of times before you leave the hospital.It all depends..have you been controlling your suger?This will have a direct effect on your newborn.Good Luck!


  2. Right after birth with a little pinprick to their little feet. They did it right in the same room with me.  

  3. They tested my son in the OR (also had him via c-section.)  

  4. She will be tested after birth but as long as she is acting fine they won't rush her right off and do it. They will also test her 2 or 3 more times in the first few hours. I had gestational with my last two pregnancies and both my babies were fine. Are you controlling it by diet or insulin?  

  5. My boys were tested right there in the same room with me and they told me their levels were low so I approved a bottle right away to bring it back up.  

  6. sometimes they will just to make sure the baby is ok
