So take the trouble to write and thank them. It'll make a nice change for them and it might even make it to their office noticeboard!

Well, being a Yank, I've not had the chance to ride the Network Rail... BUT, I do take CalTrain and ACE here in California.

Having done some work in Customer Service over the years, DO write their office and let them know.  There is NOTHING nicer than having your boss call you in and let you know the public likes the work you're doing.

I am amused slightly by the joke of a previous answerer...

Network Rail do not have anything to do with customers of the railway unless you are one of the TOC's. Are you sure it was not an employee of one of the TOC companies that helped, if so they all have customer feedback forms on the internet or at stations that you can fill in.
