  1. That's 100% fake. The phone number is a mobile, and the email is a Gmail account.

And even if you did apply for a job there, the "Head of Recruitment Services" wouldn't be bothered with your application.

  2. its dodgy because im in the process of going through an application with hsbc and that is not their email or phone number. their job refs are only 4 digits. they have phoned me and backed each call with an email and its not that email address i have the recruitment number  its  0870 126 7452. give them a call to see if its genuine

  3. You said it yourself.  Dodgy phone number - a mobile, not a land line.  Dodgy email address too.  It it was really HSBC, you'd be writing to somewhere with an extension @hsbc.co.uk, and not a gmail account.  That's the same as having like a free account at Yahoo or Hotmail.  Any idiot can get one of those.

The whole point of these emails is twofold - first to get you to fill in some kind of application form or CV with your personal details on so they can steal them, then try asking for scans of your passport or driving licence for ID purposes, again so they can steal them, and see if they can get you to reveal your bank account details to pay your wages into, at which point they have everything they need to make your life one big misery.  If you are not in the UK, they also usually like to try and get you for bogus "work permit" fees, and see how much money they can get out of you before you realise you have been taken for a ride.

You should treat email "job offers" the same way that you treat the emails telling you you have won the "yahoo lottery" - just put them straight in your trash bin without even opening them.  Never, never, never reply to these characters.

  4. Did you apply for a job at HSBC?

If not, then its not valid.  If you did apply, contact their headoffice - you can most likely get all this information from their website.
