  1. The British Petroleum co or BP as it is usually known is the UK's oil company. However what position did you apply for and if you did not apply then the offer would be a scam. So the company name is real and can be viewed at companies house in London in their register.

  2. Aka BP. This is the biggest petrol company in the world. Call there head office to verify that the offer is not a scam but the company is legit.

  3. The name sounds legitimate, but the real question is: have you done anything to solicit a position there?  If not, it could be a scam.  If they want you to advance funds for any purpose, such as visa clearance or the like, or to provide personal information, it is DEFINITELY a scam.

  4. I agree totaly with all the above check it out carefuly.

  5. Sounds like a very pukka UK/worldwide company, see here: http://www.bp.com/home.do?categoryId=1

But if you don't know whether the company is real it sounds like maybe you didn't initiate the contact, therefore I'd guess it's likely a scam.

  6. What are they offering?

    Coconut macaroons?

    Secondhand screwdrivers?

A complete set of the works of William MacGonagall?

A used copy of the Times Literary Supplement?

    A rusty gramophone needle?

    What?

I think we should be told.

  7. BP is real, but I don't think that job offer is, I think it's an e-mail scam trying to get your details.
