  1. this is a good amount, I am sure. depends what you lifestyle is.

Once you are living in Sydney you will be able to hook up and flat with others. This brings the cost down a lot.

If you want to eat out all the time its going to cost you.

         a great site is     www.gumtree.com.au

A lot of people come over and stay in one of the many Backpacker hostels in Sydney, get used to the city and the places to be, meet people and then get their apartment after researching.

That is plenty of money even with the recent rent hikes in Sydney..

    Good luck

  2. That is a decent amount to live in Sydney as a single person, but don't expect a flash lifestyle on it, as this town is quite expensive! It is important to clarify whether that is your pre-tax salary, or what you will receive after taxes.

Are you moving within Australia, or coming from Overseas? If you are coming from overseas you should look into salary packaging and the living away from home allowance, as this will make what you do earn go MUCH further!

For renting a studio apartment/1 bedder near the CBD (15-30 mins commute) in suburbs like Glebe, Newtown, etc, it will cost you from $200-350pw. From these neighborhoods you can easily take a bus/walk into the city.
