I have guinea pigs in an open C&C cage and I want a cat?

would that work? I'm concerned even if I come up with a top for the cage a cat could antagonize or figure out a way to open the top and harm the guinea pigs.

Any advice or input on getting a cat when I already have guinea pigs is appreciated.

btw is it true cats are easier to take care of than guinea pigs

  1. If you go to the C&C cage site, it shows you how to build a lid.

  2. You would defiantly  need to get a top for it. You can use the panels and put wire around it (and the rest of the cage). Use some sort of lock or clip to keep the lid down. I use bungee cords and binder clips on my cages for my bunnies. You could use the wire closet shelving that has an edge that could go over the end of the cage.

You should be able to train the cats to leave the GP's alone. There are many deterrents your can buy for cats. It is best to keep the cat away for the GP's for the very start so it knows to leave them alone.

I don't know which is easier to care for as I don't have either.

    Good Luck
