  1. Some companies have an 0800 number on caller id, and if you rang the number it would give an announcement to say you were called by them and they will try again. This is when their internal phone system will not give a number that will get you back to the extension that called. So you do get a number, but not one that will get you back to whoever was after you.

Just answer it will not cost you.

  2. Ignore it , its probably a dept collection agency , or the benefits agency !

have you tried ringing the number back from a pay phone (its free)

you'll know who it is then . don't use your name ,make one up!

  3. I had the same problem with a 800 number calling my cell phone.  It was a collection agency calling for the person who had the number 5 years ago.  Funny part in this situation was they were calling to collect the past balance of the Nextel account of the previous person who had the number.  What I did to find out who these people were I took the 800 number and searched for the number in 800-x*x-xxxx format.  Came up some websites one showed all of the consumer complaints about the company who kept calling my cell phone.

  4. 0800 numbers are free from your land line.

  5. 0800 numbers are call centres. If you're not expecting a call from a call centre, don't answer it.

  6. It will be free to call from your landline and you'll at least be able to find who is bothering you

  7. you will get charged for an imcoming call on you lanline?
