I have had hermit crabs for like 5-6 years now and i was wondering how many times you clean out the tank?

we like hardly ever clean out the tank, only like the sponge and shells for food and water...

hw often do yall clean out the tank or critter carrier thing?

we have one now casue it killed the others lol :( but i was just wondering...

I ditched sponges after the first week of crabbing. THey're such a royal pain.

I spot clean every few days. water and food dishes are cleaned daily because they have to be. I have a 100 gallon so unless it REALLY needs to be cleaned it rarely gets done ( I'm such a terrible crab owner) I take everything out except the substrate and clean it maybe once a month or so. I have about 100 pounds if not more of substrate so it's a big job to clean the whole thing out.  I change out shells all the time and boil the old ones. I don't bath the crabs on a regular basis only if they need to be. THey have a big enough water dish to do it themselves.

because I take care of all the little messes I think it's over all pretty clean

I clean mine about once a year...

I don`t think it`s sad,there is really no need to clean it very often,even though I have 36 of them,their just not dirty critters..

i have 17 of them. i dont really need to clean it that often. only a few times a year.
