  1. Unless you have a specific clause in your Comprehensive Insurance covering such items then you are basically out of luck

  2. depending on your policy (as they differ from company to company) you MAY have cover for £100 worth of personal effects in the vehicle. but obviously this wont cover the cost and you have to pay your xs too. you are better off ringing your home insurers and logging a claim with them. if you have items covered away from the home the pc will be covered under this policy. you will most likely find that your xs is only £50-£100 on this too. you will need to get proof of ownership of the pc though before they will consider it. and also log the claim with the police as the claims dept will want a crime ref no. you may find that if you do have personal effects cover on your car insurance, your home and car policies will pay a bit each of the claim (try not to let this happen though, as you will lose no claims bonus on both policies)

  3. Sorry, neither your motor insurance nor your contents insurance (home) will cover this theft.

Reason for not being covered in motor has already been told.

Contents wont cover because, as per the policy terms ( for most UK home contents policy), it will only cover for contents if they had been locked in the glove compartment or in the boot of the car. If it was just on your seat, the policy will exclude this saying this was visible to the thief and the Insured didn't take reasonable care to protect the item

  4. Your homeowners/renters coverage covers personal probably away from the home. Most auto insurance does not cover personal belongings that are in the vehicle. Check with your insurance agent. If your vehicle sustained damage during the robbery then your comprehensive coverage will cover the repairs to your vehicle, not for a new pc. Either way you will have to pay a deductible whether it's claimed on your auto or home. Check out the price of a new pc to see if it would even be worth filing a claim

  5. Not unless your insurance covers items in it (which is not likely). Your homeowners insurance probably won't cover it either since it was in the car.

  6. ok,  your computer was stolen.  Depending on the state there may be some coverage available and when I say some we're talking about $250.  Most policies only cover the vehicle and it's equipment.  But I have seen compaines that cove more so a blanket statement yes or not may not be accurate.

You're best bet is to claim it under your homeowners  policy or renters policy which would provide coverage for this.  Did you have a computer endoresement????  this would be a lower deductible for you but if  not then your deductible will apply.  When you do replace it see if your insurance company offers this and NEVER EVER leave ANYTHING of  value in your vehicle again!!

good luck but with all the variance of insurance companies and state  policies you really should speak with your agent and/or adjuster

  7. YOU CAN NOT CLAIM..IT

EVEN IF U HAVE FULL COVERAGE, IT ONLY COVERS PERCENTAGE OF WHAT IS ATTACHED IN CAR, THIS CLEARLY IS NOT PART OF YOUR CAR

HOMEOWNERS WONT COVER AS THIS WAS IN YOUR CAR

    SUCKS DUDE SORRY TO HEAR

  8. You cannot claim your computer on your auto insurance. The auto carriers only cover physical damages to your car. It will not cover any personal belongings. You would have to go to your homeowners or renters insurance to file that claim.

EDIT: Answer 2 is incorrect. Theft on the comprehensive part of auto insurance is theft of the vehicle or things attached to it from the factory (seats, steering wheel, radio, etc.). Unless the computer's attached to the vehicle, and a premium is charged for that, the auto insurance won't cover the computer.

  9. Answer one is incorrect! This would fall under your comprehensive coverage (Theft, fire, vandalism etc) Now the catch is, do you have that coverage? If not, file it on your homeowners/renters policy.

  10. Mandy if you live in UK the first half dozen answers do not apply. If in the UK and you have Comprehensive cover you CAN claim for personal goods BUT only if there was forced entry. In other words, if in your hurry to get indoors out of the wet you left the car unlocked - hard luck. If, however, it was locked and some low life broke into it you will be covered.

  11. No you cannot claim on your car insurance. Your auto policy does not cover personal property inside the vehicle.

If you have homeowners insurance you can make the claim with that company. But chances are the cost of the computer is less than your deductible.
