I have had some very disappointing AS results, can i still get into Medical School?

I have received BCCC in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and French A levels, and plan to study Chemistry, Physics and Maths at A2next year, with Biology at AS level too. I'm aware I need to bring my grades up to AAAB next year, and my question is; if i get the correct grades at A2 level do i still have a chance of getting onto a medical degree? I would love to study at Imperial or UCL

thanks

  1. Yes but you'll need to take a gap year. Unis will look at your AS results and won't believe that you'll get AAAB at A2 so they won't make you an offer. However after you've got the results they'll be more willing to consider you.

  2. You'll need so much work experience, one of my best friends got AAAAB at A level, had work experience in a hospital and in a GP surgery, played an instrument and did sports . . . and so applied to the London universities but didn't get accepted into any because the competition was so fierce. She did get into Exeter though (also very good) - and loves it.

So it'll be really difficult to get in, but . . . if you get work experience, and take a gap year you mite still manage it! If not then several universities offer foundation courses for people with incorrect A levels, or other degrees which then lead to acceptance on their medical course which might be worth looking into if you don't get accepted right away!!

    Good luck getting in!
