  1. Take a look at Excessive Mastoiditus or Coalescent Mastoiditus. This is a forgotten disease over the past 50 years. This is the bone directly behind your ear. It starts with a middle ear infection. I have been suffering with this since May 8th, 2008. 6 doctors and two trips to the emergency room later a P.A. picked it up off of an MRI report today. Having surgery on Thursday. Have had non stop severe headaches since the above listed date. You may have to explain this to an ENT specialist. They missed it completely..This is a very rare but serious bone infection in the Mastoid. Be careful. I guarantee the doctors will not check for it. It it not normal to have a constant headache. They told me it was a Migaine also. Be vigilant and find a doctor who will listen to your symptoms. Feel the large bone behind your ear on each side. If one side feels twice the size of the other you may have your answer. Oral anti biotics will not work on this. I do not know if you may be suffering from this. I did not know I was either. You may want want to find a speciality facility like the  Mayo Clinic or Shands. Also the doctor today banned me from flying for work until the infection is under control. Flying could have led to death. If you happen to have this condition and left untreated, the infection can lead to Meningitis and get into your brain. If the base of your neck gets sore or stiff go directly to the emergency room. Good luck.
