  1. You are in fact safer on the west coast.

Storms brew slowly and when they start naming them its time to be concerned.

Wilma hit and hit hard as well as Mitch.

They usually move at slow speed .

If you are going for a couple weeks then check the forecast in the area and you will minimize your risk of theses d**n storms affect on your vacation

Hurricane season is between June and November.

If you do happen to get caught in one you would be safer inside . You can imagine what a coconut flying at 100 miles an hour can do to the skull.

HURRICANE WILMA HAMMERED CANCUN ON OCTOBER 20TH  --NAMED ON THE 15TH AND DIED ON THE 21ST

SAN CALLISTO 11  KILLED 25000 PEOPLE YEARS AGO  MID OCTOBER

HURRICANE PAULINE KILLED SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE --MID OCTOBER 1997

    Hurricane Joanne  Ocober 6 1972

THE LIST OF OCTOBER  HURRICANES IS TOO LONG TO NAME THEM ALL.

BEST TO CHECK THE WEATHER BEFORE YOU GO AS THEY ARE RARE AND BREW AND MOVE SLOWLY BEFORE COMING TO SHORE.

ACAPULCO HAS ONLY HAD A FEW IN RECENT HISTORY AND HAS NEVER TAKEN A DIRECT HIT.

PAULINE JUST POURED AND POURED AND POURED AND WASHED HOUSES AWAY. THANK GOD THERE WERE NO HIGH WINDS

  2. Traditionally the hurricane season is in the summer;  July is in the yellow zone , October is safe.

But keep in mind that lately the "seasons" are completely out of control, the raining season is early for nearly a month and a half so traditional  knowledge can simply no longer apply any more.
