  1. Being registered blind has nothing to do with the strength of your glasses. It is how well you can see with them.

Also it takes into account both eyes being open, as long as 1 eye can see normally you can not be registered blind.

If you have vision so poor in both eyes that it impairs your ability to do daily tasks then you can be registered blind or partially sighted. Your optician would have arranged this if this was the case.

Don't worry about the numbers that make up your prescription, they are just that, numbers! What matters is your "visual acuity" or how well you can see with the glasses.

Laser surgery can reduce the strength of your glasses prescription it cannot make you see any better than you can see through your glasses at the moment. In some cases where there is a problem you can get worse vision than you started with.

Just don't panic, if there is a problem with your eyes your optician will tell you. My advice is always go to the same opticians so that they have your records so can check for changes to your eye health, vision or prescription.

  2. Well, first of all, I have worse sight and I'm younger than you.

Second, you ARE NOT legally blind. I think you should look that up, but since I'm nice, I'll tell you. It's when your eyes best corrected (with glasses/contacts) you still only have 20/200. You are NOWHERE near legally blind.

Third, you probably won't be able to improve your vision until it stabilizes  some sort. You CAN prevent it from getting worse, but it's not likely because at the teen years when everybody's bodies are blossoming, the eyes also change. I suppose you could ask for bifocal lenses (although I must say they aren't very cooooooolllllll on a teen) so when you do close work your glasses won't be too strong. You could try eye exercises such as "drawing" and "writing" with your eyes so your eyes won't be fixated in one position.

And my lil cousin is really bothering me so, sorry! I wish I could type more but, G2G!

    HOPE I HELPED!

  3. iam legally blind in one eye too, bec dosent kno wat shes talkin about, but i think iam like 45 20  or somtin like date but iam gettin surgury nd thinkin about bein a pilot, o nd u can get a patch that u put on ur worst eye will doin stuff nd its suppose to make it better, i had to use them for a while but stoped

p.s. carrots are c**p at them for like 2 yrs nd my eyes stayed the same, stupid carrots

  4. Im 15 and my eyes are both -3.5, so I dont think so...

  5. As long as you can see with glasses or contacts, you should be ok.

  6. Did your optometrist tell you that you were legally blind?  If you can see clearly wearing your glasses, then you are not legally blind.  Legally blind is having 20/200 vision or worse in your best seeing eye with correction (or a visual field of 20 degrees or less).

Unfortunately there isn't anyway to improve your vision.  Nearsightedness is caused by your cornea (front of your eye) having too much power for the length of your eye.  No vitamins or exercises will change these.  (And patching is used for young children with a lazy eye or developing amblyopia.)  Nearsightedness usually progresses through the teens and stabilizes in the twenties.  Then you may be a candidate for laser surgery.  Good luck.
