Question:

I have huge spiders everywhere!?

Big ol spiders have taken residence in my home. Its an older home...but these are huge! Gross and nasty. I rather not bomb the house because I have a 3 week old, and a dog. I would hate to not wipe something down that had that residue from the bug bomb on it.

Anything else, any old-fashion ways to get rid of them?! No chemicals!!

Thanks - Im totally freaking out.

  1. If they are really bad, you could hire an exterminator to get rid of them, but I'm not sure if they use chemicals or not.

    Check the phonebook for ads?

  2. I was told that spiders only hang out where they have a source of food so you probably have some other bugs living there that are providing a smorgesboard for the spiders.  Bombing the house is not the only answer here.  Try a nice garden variety bug spray for crawling insects in the basement first, along the edge of the floors, around the windows, and along where the house meets the foundation.  do this both inside.  Your baby or dog should not be getting into any of these places so you should be safe there.  Also, you could do the same outside the house, when the dog is inside so he isn't interested in what you are doing.

Read the labels on these products at the store so you know what you are getting into.  Once the basement is sprayed, you should see a huge reduction in spiders.

I would also leave the baby with someone when you do this and leave the house for a bit till the scent goes away but mostly with these kinds of sprays, it is NOT the scent that kills the spiders but the spray itself when the little critters walk on it.
