Okay. so i have had hypertension since i was about 18. its not really a big deal. it doesnt affect me that much. i've never passed out, or had to go to the hospital.

occasionally if i eat some greasy foods or something then my heart my have one or two irregular beats in the day, but its not a daily thing.

i dont know my standard blood pressure because i dont monitor it.

i take 50 milligrams of atenolol ever day. its a beta blocker and helps control my heart rate.

i am interested in taking magic mushrooms again. ive done it 3 or 4 times when i was like 16-17 and came out just fine.

i've smoked cigarettes, drank a lot of alcohol and smoked pot while on the meds and came out just fine with a BARELY noticable bump in my bpm (maybe 10-15 bpm bump up)

do you think it would be safe to take a small amount of shrooms though? the ONLY thing im worried about is my heart rate. like i said, ive done it before and i know what im in for, but i just dont remember if it affected my heart rate much.

  1. Don't do it man, not only is it bad, if you had a bad trip it could stress you out real bad and make your blood pressure go way up and you could stroke out or have heart failure. Seriously. Even if the drugs were not harmful alone (which they are on many levels) the Euphoria they cause can cause problems within itself. Check this out, all the things Euphoria can bring besides potential bliss, lol.

  2. As you're already aware, mushrooms are a psychadelic. Psychadelic drugs affect your psyche in ways such as loss of ego, amplifying ones thoughts etc. etc. etc.

If you've had them before and felt fine I'd say that you'd be safe, but I'm not a doctor so you can't take my word for it. Remember set and setting: if you're worried about this going into the trip you'll have a less positive experience, or even a negative one. You need to sort this issue out in your head before you can even consider taking them.

I'd recommend reading up on this forum:

And making a few posts as well. There are some extremely knowledgeable people there and a whole database with an incredible amount of information. Good luck.

  3. Ask your doctor. I'm serious. Doctors are bound to patient confidentiality, so there is NO legal risk to you. Be polite but direct in your questions, and explain your concerns and desires to experiment. you might be surprised at how open-minded some doctors are in the area of recreational usage.
