I have hypothyroidism which has slowed my growth rate by two years! What can the hospital do to help me grow?

  1. You can take some thyroid supplements after consulting a doctor.

    Practice some exercises.

Not a d**n thing.  You can take Synthroid to replace the thyroid hormones, but other than that there's nothing that can be done.  If you're between the ages of 12-15 then you can look into human growth hormone therapy but it's often not covered by insurance and is very expensive (about $500 a month or at least $15,000 a year).  Exercise, take multivitamins, make sure you take in plenty of calcium - your body may catch up - it's up for your doctor to counsel you.

  3. My bosses daughter has this. She is 9 years old. She has been taking a drug for the last year now and she's doing really well. I can't remember the name of the drug, but I will ask and post it.
