  1. No it is not ok to remove it.

    Better will be to obtain latest version or have java updates.

    Java allows you to play online games, chat with people around the world, calculate your mortgage interest, and view images in 3D, just to name a few. It's also integral to the intranet applications and other e-business solutions that are the foundation of corporate computing.

    You may not be in a position to have a full access to certain web sites without java , or you may not enjoy full feature of certain applications on some websites.


  2. Yeah, but then you can't run any programs that use Java. However, since you just installed it, it doesn't sound like you have any Java programs anyway. Most home users don't have Java programs. You can remove it just fine. Unless you use Open Office. I'm pretty sure that needs Java.
