I have installed quickbooks 2003,

i have installed quickbooks 2003, i cannot load a company file, qbw, which was saved under a previous version, error message "qbw is not a quickbooks file or is damaged". i have tried changing op locks and read caching settings etc as per suggestions, but still no use, desparate as these are very important file
