  1. The passport will be taken if your visa will be granted based on the interview.

  2. take what ????

the embassys sometime ask you to left your passport to print the visa in it......  for a few hours or days ....  if soembody tell you otherwise...he dont know....they only think they know...

youre requesting a visa dont you....   dont pay attention to who tell you to be arrogant with the ppl youre requesting permisssion to enter their country otherwise , you will get your passort immediatly back to you..... with no visa

  3. why in God's name would your leave your passport with anyone???? Never, Ever do this at any time.

  4. Take a copy? If they think the paperwork looks good and don't decline you outright then they may borrow your passport to insert the visa in there. Although embassies usually prefer to borrow the passport so they can get a good look at it (see if there's any tampering, you've been to any countries that they're at war at etc).

They may just take a photo copy of the photo page at this stage. There's a few checks that need to be done before the approval.

  5. I could be wrong, as I don't travel out of the US. But I've always been under the impression that your passport should be treated as your credit cards, no hands but your own.

I wouldn't give it to anybody accept for them to look at it, but they should hand it right back, not "take" it.
