I've already postponed once, but have read that jurors are granted dismissals for many different reasons. Does an already planned vacation count?

  1. I like the first answer --- not ethical, but it should work.

Or tell the judge the truth and put yourself at the courts mercy.

  2. Yes, in NY you can be postponed up to three times. You just have to bring proof, like tickets or other evidence of your plans.Have a great vacation.

  3. Nope, when you postponed, you should have taken your vacation schedule into account.  If you are scheduled to be in jury duty, you must be there or a warrant for your arrest will be issued per law.

  4. 5. Can jurors postpone jury service for a later date?

You may apply -usually by mail or phone- to your local Commissioner of Jurors. Your first request for a postponement will be granted automatically. Subsequent requests for postponement will be considered individually by the Commissioner of Jurors Office.
