  1. I don't want to be horrible but shouldn't you get money from your husband and it seems odd to me tat he can sell the house and leave you with out shelter, I live abroad and my wife LEFT me but I have been paying out for 15 years now and she has gone threw a few boy friend in that time but I still have to pay.  and the kids are wth me every week end so she can go out on the town.

  2. I think the advice to see the CAB is the best advice as there just isnt enough information to help you.

Dont bother with the benefits helpline as suggested it doesnt deal with housing benefit

  3. Go to Citizens Advice Bureau, they will be able to tell you what benefits you may be entitled to.

  4. Call this and explain your circumstances, they will tell you what you are entitled to:

    Benefit Enquiry Line

    Phone: 0800 88 22 00

  5. This is a really good website for reviewing all the potential benefits you may be entitled to:

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndB...

This link here lets you check the potential for housing benefit, which I understand is really the main additional benefit you are asking about:

    http://local.direct.gov.uk/LDGRedirect/i...

There is a good chance with your circumstances that you will qualify but it does completely depend on the numbers. Remember you can't have savings of more than £16k though (if you are getting any proceeds from the house sale this may mean you don't qualify). If you qualify you should also qualify for council tax benefit.

You could also look into income support but may be more hassle than it's worth as will reduce your tax credits.

The best thing to do is make an appt at your local jobcentre or Citizen's Advice Bureau to have a chat with someone. If you are struggling to make ends meet you will want to know everything you could be entitled to.

p.s. go easy on your ex-husband.... obviously I don't know the circumstances but i'm sure he's come out of this feeling a bit poverty stricken and struggling too.

  6. he can`t sell the house until your girl is of working age, you should be able to live off your wage, tax credits and your husbands money, at least you are getting some

  7. Too many variables here. Visit your local CAB to discuss your case in greater detail. You may get Housing benefit and council tax benefit depending on your rent and your income, but not enough income to say. Seek independant assistance from CAB with this.
