My sister-in-law has given us the sweetest 18 month old Italian Greyhound. She is blue and white and her name is Zoe. She appears to be in great health, i just want to know if there is anything i need to watch for as far as health conditions?

She is a very smart and charming girl, even though we have had her for 2 days, she has already attached herself to me. I work and was wondering is they are prone to separation anxiety. We have been with her constantly since we got her.

I absolutely love her, she is a wonderful, sweet girl. i didn't expect this from such a small girl, and am so pleased with her.

You should read all about your new addition and learn what is what.

    I hope this helps.

  2. Mary M, I like the look of a italian greyhound. They are so cute.

  3. Congrats on your new baby! IG's are sweet and little clowns! They do need a warm coat in the winter and even the spring and fall. They have little body fat and hair to keep them warm,, so they do need to cover up more than the average dog. As was said, they are also delicate, especially the legs. Try not to let her jump too high or allow her to rough house with other dogs too much.

Get as much info as you can, find other IG lovers in your area, then they can play with each other-someone their own size and body type.Enjoy your new girl!

  4. congrats on your new baby!

iggies are generally prone to breaking their bones, especially puppies. You'll have to make sure she doesn't jump from high places or make huge leaps from say a chair to another table. Some of them really think they can fly! Walk her for an hour everyday to keep her energy level in check, from personal experience it's the best way to prevent her from racing around the house of which she might break her bones. Proper walking techniques will also help you maintain your status as pack leader.

Nothing much, iggies are generally healthy breeds though somtimes prone to epilepsy too.

Sensitive to the cold because of their extremely thin coats, make sure she has a sweater on or something when going out if it's cold and that she has a warm spot to sleep in.
