And a medic was getting slated for cutting a badly injured ( possible spinal injurys ) riders helmet off, people were moaning that the helmets cost a lot of money and he should have made the effort to undue the strap, i stuck up for the medic but wondered what other peoples thoughts were, and i will post them on the website

Many thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. I Agree with lady Carole. A riders helmet should be left on until it can be removed properly. I understand the reason for this to be in case of a broken Neck as well as spinal injury. you would be surprised how many people don't know they have broken their necks. its not always fatal. I also agree it takes 3 to remove a helmet safely.

  2. Cut it off.

If its the best " treatment " for the rider, then just do it.

The First Aid staff are very well trained and really know what to do.

I came a cropper a few years back, about 10 or so years back, and the Staff Nurse at the hospital said I had 2 choices. She cut the jacket half of the 2 piece I was wearing or I try to take it off with a broken left arm............ I loved that 2 piece, but the pain was amazing. I look back now and wish I'd off said " cut away "

  3. As an ex biker, I would rather my helmet be cut off than suffer spinal injuries. Just look in any first aid book, it tells you NOT to take the helmet off if you suspect spinal injuries unless there are more than one person present. One to hold head rigid one to take of helmet by pulling sides out. Always remember to keep head/spine immobilised.

  4. The abject stupidity of the crowd.
