or vidio the children, doing the christmas nativity play, as some parents object to their children being in any photos, or vidios, I think it is a shame that you can not take a photo of your own children, just in case you get any other child in the photo these children will have no photos to look back on, of their experiances in nursary. what do you thing of this.

  1. It is the same in a lot of places now.

I have 3 children and it is only in the last couple of years I have heard of this. I worked in a pre-school setting and even we couldn't store pictures of the children on our computer (ones from special events they had done etc) because it is seen as a risk, (* they could get posted on the Internet and could be viewed by a paedophile)

Not that we would ever of put them on the website at all!

It is such a shame, and I believe it is spreading to sports days too, another sign of the times I think. I do get around it by asking the parents of the children next to mine, if they have any objections to my photographing their children, and I have never had a refusal.:0)

  2. its the same here in western australia, the schools will take photos, videos of the children and you can buy copies from them, they make money out of you.people have even been asked why they have a camera at the beach.

  3. We are allowed to do it at my daughters school.I you were to ask the teacher,Im sure he or she wouldnt mind you taking photos or doing a bit of videoing after the play has finished. You could get your granddaughter and a few friends to wait behind for a while afterwards, and even though it wont be while they are performing you will still have something to remember it by.Also I think it is very off putting for the children to see camera flashes going off.

  4. that rule is apparent in most schools for the children's protection. it is madness not to be able to record your childs school play.

it is the same in our school but the teachers turn a blind eye and it goes on anyway.

good for those teachers i say.

  5. i know what you mean at my son nursery you couldn't take pic or video it and he was so funny and because it was a very small hall it was only 1 adult per child so my husband didn't get to see him.

  6. I don't understand at all.  But, I guess you'll have to settle for taking pictures before or after the show.

  7. pull your kids out and put them in a better ose that suits your needs and encourage others to do the same,

Or at least remove your kids from the pagent and encourage other parents to do the same, simply put if yau cannot have pics of the kids in the play, then why did they even do the play?

  8. If your child is in costume maybe you can take photos after the show...ask if you can take your grandchild aside for a moment and take your own picks or if stage is still set up afterwards ask if you can quickly use it.

MY setting has a few problems as we have children under Social Care Services and it is dangerous to have them in photos as you never know who may know someone who knows someone etc. We dont tell people if we have children under Social Care because its private and a matter of safety so you may find its a similar thing at your setting. Often people dont want photos or videos for a reason not just to be awkward.

  9. Its because the powers that be are scared that paedophiles will get pictures of kids (albeit children who are fully dressed and not sexual in any way). A lot of schools have backed down on this now.

  10. i think it is a sorry state for this country to be in.  you not only cant take photos - children cant sit on santas lap and dinner ladies cant hug a child whos scraped their knees.  physical contact is being outlawed - no wonder alot of youths are self centred - they cant relate to anyone else

  11. yeah, this is true because of child protection laws, in Northern Ireland where i live you can also get a hefty fine and stuff for taking photos of your child in the smiwwing pool, etc
