  1. go back and ask the owners for the manual.

  2. those satfinders are a bit useless, if you dont have a decent basic meter like a Horizon HDSM or Rovermeter SD1or SD2 it can be a bit of a pain.

assuming you are tunning to sky , first make sure the dish is properly assembled and the mounting bracket / pole vertically/horizontally level (some sky dishes have a small sipirt level on the lnb arm). The dish has to point to 28.2 degrees east, so using a compass the dish should be pointing around 150 degrees on the compass markings . On the side of the dish there are some markings for the altitude position. this will vary depending on where you are in the uk (london around 25 degrees, check the link below for dishpointer). you will then have to connect the satfinder to the sky box (the end that says rec or receiver) and the other end of the satfinder connects to the LNB. Power up the sky box and leave it on (it will say no sat signal but dont worry about it) Set the gain on the sat finder to max and slightly adjust the dish until it starts beeping rapidly. slowly reduce the gain on the satfinder and readjust the dish for the peak signal. keep reducing the gain and make fine tunning adjustments to the dish, this will ensure the signall is suitable.

disconnect the satfinder and connect the lead coming from the sky box directly to the lnb. after this you will have the welcome channel on the sky box if not switch off from the main power and reboot the box.

  4. You will need an inclinometer and a compass.

One measures the bearing and the other the height above the horizon. You should be able to get the co-ordinates from the web.
