I have seen that my cat has been putting on a little bit of weight in the past few weeks, but today I found out that my cat is actually pregnant. She loves her stomach being petted and scratched and in doing that the past couple of weeks I was wondering if that would affect the baby kittens in her belly at all!

  1. That will comfort the mother and so long as you are not too rough it will not harm the babies. If she hasn't already, she will pull out the hair around each nipple...and may be a bit sore or be more easily irritated by scratching...so just be gentle. You are in for a treat to see the kittens as new born...but may not know when they actually arrive unless you keep a close watch on the mother. Don't forget to permit the mother to teach the babies about hunting etc. and don't be alarmed when she brings critters she has caught to the babies as part of their early education. No animal is more solicitous and caring for their young as are cats...watch as she tends to them.

    Happy for you....

  2. It appears from your question, you are about to have a family.  Well, be assured that you will not injure the mother cat by  patting or scratching her tummy.

She will go through birthing which can be quite an interesting time if you watch and stay with her.

Kittens have closed eyes for a number of days after birth and slowly but, surely you will find that all will be well.

  3. No, it won't hurt her. I hope you spay her after this and stop contributing to the cat overpopulation.

  4. No it won't! It'll comfort her. (My cat had kittens a year ago and I did the same thing) :)

  5. don't freak out just relax. so just get your house ready for the kittens. but don't freak out

  6. No it wont hurt the kittens at all and mom will love it as her belly is stretching and itchy and achy.If you notice she is starting to leak a little milk get a box ready ,she will have the babies soon.

  7. No, it won't hurt the babies at all. Just don't rub her belly fast or roughly. That could harm the babies.
