  1. it means to sew the sleeves to the fronts and back of the cardigan from the underarm to the neckline - DO NOT JOIN ANY OTHER SEAMS UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE THIS - when you have joined the raglan seams you will then be able to see where the other seams are and will now join them.

  2. Hi!

    Yes, you're right!

  3. The Raglans are the seams where the shaping is for the sleeve on the fronts and back and the top shaping on the sleeves. Join these first and then follow any further instructions on the pattern such as buttonhole bands and collars etc.  Then you will be able  to join the sleeve and side seams in one go. Hope you are pleased with the final cardigan and that you enjoy wearing it and feel encouraged to make more garments, its a really relaxing and worthwhile hobby.

  4. the raglan seams join the sleeves to fronts and back of the cardigan only sew these seams until the pattern says to sew the rest.,do not join the sleeves under the arms yet.You may have to knit a button band or collar and if you sew all seams it could make this difficult to do,the pattern should tell you when to sew the rest of the seams. It is nice to know that people still knit good luck.

  5. the raglans are the sloping seams on the fronts and back from underarm to neck edge only sew the sleeves in position up the raglan edge which is where you did all the fancy decreasing -  dont do any other seams up or  you wont have enough ease to  cast on for the  buttonhole rounds.

  6. It is a long time since I knitted but the raglan seams if memory serves me right are from under the arm to the shoulders.

All seams have to be joined anyways but they are probably writing it in a certain order.

  7. Raglan sleeves decrease gradually from under the arm right up to the neck edge. It is these long edges which need to be sewn to the corresponding edges of the back and the left and right front of the cardigan.
