  1. Tracy-  It normally takes years from the time a diagnosis of cervical cancer is made until the cancer begins to spread beyond the cervix.  Stages include cancer-in-situ which is just the beginning of the cancer in one spot of the cervix.  Later, the cancer becomes locally invasive in the cervix.  Later it can spread elsewhere in the cervix, outside of the uterus and to other parts of the body.  The doctor who told you that you had cancer should have already discussed with you where your cancer is and given you the choices of what to do next.  It varies, depending upon your age, any spread, a desire for more children, and the type of cancer.  Some cervical cancers are cured by simply removing a cone of tissue from the cervix.  Others may be better treated by removal of the uterus with its cervix.  These days, most women are cured of cancer of the cervix, especially those diagnosed early on by annual Pap smears.  Your outlook is likely excellent for a long life.  Now talk again with your doctor who will treat you.  Good luck.

  2. is it full blown cancer or just abnormal cells? my mom has had it, and her friend too.. but they cured it easily.. maybe yours is the same kinda thing..?
