How can I add 'light' without changing the number of downlights?

Are there higher wattage bulbs I can get?

What are my options?

  1. You got to many bulbs. 250 watt is very bright. You need to know how many amps are flowing because watts devided by amps equal volts And you may 240 volts. I would just use 100 watt bulbs. Yeah as the last guy said. Use a florecsent, but it needs to be plugged into a special MBD in you consumer unit because it is time delayed. I think it's a type C. Just adk about it.

  2. Do you mean each bulb is 250 watts or the total bulbs?  We have downlighters that are 50 watts each (7) that we use on a dimmer switch.  When full on they are very bright.  Note what was said above about fire hazard, you should remove insulation from around the lights in the loft.  Ideally they need a cone to protect them.

  3. decrease the resistance.

  4. 250 watts?  That's alot of electricity to burn.  Get rid of the downlights (most of the power goes as heat and they can be a fire hazard in the ceiling) and use a compact flurorescent.

  5. A bedside lamp!
