I have become pretty good, but the bruise prevents me from cutting hard in the turns. Am I doing something wrong? Will this go away after sometime, or should I look into a brace/pad of some type? If so, does anyone have any recommendations? HELP!

  1. sounds like you are getting angle in your turns. is the "bruised area just above and slightly back from your back foot ankle bone? if it is then it is caused from the water. I have an area that the skin almost blisters up. there is, or used to be, a neoprene legging to wear to prevent the soreness. I personally found that to be more uncomfortable than just putting up with it. After awhile it will not be so bad. It is caused from angle, nothing wrong.

  2. This is normal if it is about half-way up and on the outside of your rear leg. This shows you are getting very aggresive in your turns, good going! My leg used to bleed a little when I first learned. I've used the neoprene slip on cover which worked pretty good but didn't last very long. Any pro shop should carry those as well as a well equipped boat dealer. I've used a soccer style shin guard for quite a while now and my leg NEVER gets bruised any more. Just rotate it so that the hard surface covers the area that gets bruised. You may need to adjust it from time to time as the spray will want to twist it on your leg but you may never have another bruise there again, and they are very inexpensive. Try Wal-mart or Big-5 sporting goods.

  3. Thats normal, are your falling on to your side when you go down? That could easily be causing the bruising on your legs
