  1. Why would you want to?

The cable box and the Blu-ray player are both sources for video. In other words you would get video (TV) output from the cable box and HD video from the Blu-ray player. Normally you would connect both/either directly to an HDTV (or indirectly via an A/V receiver).

I don't mean to be critical, but if you didn't know enough to understand your question sounds pretty dumb, why did you buy a Blu-ray player? It's a premium priced alternative to DVD which is only worth the high price if you have the equipment and expertise to take advantage of it. Ideally you need a 40"+ 1080p HDTV and a good surround sound system. At an absolute minimum you need an HDMI equipped HDTV.

SCART is not an HD connector, so even if you could connect it you would get no advantage over a DVD player (in fact you would be paying extra for the player and the disks, so it would be a disadvantage).

In terms of connecting the Blu-ray player ... use an HDMI cable to connect to an HDMI equipped surround sound system (or direct to an HDTV)

  2. That was a waste of money . . . I agree with agb90spruce.
