is that? Is it because of there poor diet? Here in England we were rated 3rd from the top, Is this because of the new school meals policy?

  1. Because most Americans do not have dental Insurance and those that do it is not enough.

Edit: So when it comes down to Pay your bills, or fix your teeth, most of us chose to live in a nice home and have a questionable smile.

  2. I would say it is due to the cost of treatment when in England dental care is free for under 16's.

  3. I'd say there are two reasons.  The first is poor diet. If anyone eats lots of sugary foods they will develop bad teeth. The second reason is the cost of dental treatment in the USA . Poor families can't afford to look after the health of their children. And this is happening in the richest country in the world.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

  4. id have to guess cause of their diets...and jsut all the candy and pop. that was the first thign that came to my mind when i read your question.

  5. Americans eat too much suger - have you seen the size of the BUCKETS of coke that they get with their fast food?

  6. Your medical magazine is incorrect. Children are taught in school dental health and most parents keep up with it making their children brush their teeth and floss. They also go in for regular dental checkups. We have floride in our water and the children drink milk for lunch to help their teeth. I really can't imagine where your medical magazine got their information.

  7. Our forefathers brought them over from the 'old country.'

  8. Too many dentists making a fast buck. Have you noticed that private dentists always seem to 'Find' something that need attention

  9. I just have to say that it is very hard to find an NHS dentist in the UK, took me several years to find one.I was having to pay £70 for a check up in my old private dentist.

All the dentists in the Uk have gone private and there had been alot of fuss and everything about it in the papers and news. So all i can say its pretty tough to find dental treatment free in the UK, even for children as my nephews and nieces had to go without for a while.

  10. It's a combination of factors, primarily from the most common diets promoted in the USA.

Top culprits tend to be highly processed sugars and other simple carbohydrates such as starches, which are in practically everything that doesn't look like it immediately came off a plant or animal.

While most people identify sodas as the culprits, fruit juices are also high on the list as both contain high levels of acids in addition to sugars. Large quantities of either, or both, produce similar results. Bottled water also provides some negative effects since it is largely without fluoride added which is a necessary component in the development of strong tooth enamel.

Potato chips, and to a lesser extent fries, are also significant issues for teeth as they tend to form a semi-bonded coating on molars and maintain contact for extended periods of time.

A secondary cause is the oral hygene education, discipline and care, which for those without dental insurance often becomes a problem. Without appropriate basic maintenance, in the form of regular brushing and flossing, and checkups and dentist-applied cleanings maintaining healthy teeth becomes impossible.

  11. Refined sugar is the short answer.  YOU  knew that!

However, teeth cleaning and brushing are vital.  And diet is responsible for the sugar intake.  And SODA pops that are the drink of the season.

    Water and water are good.

  12. It's because children in the usa have candy thats bad for you!

  13. obviously because america has all this junk food and sweets that are dirt cheap.  healthy foods cost more thats y we also have so many fat and obese ppl here. nobody cares about teeth, these parents here dont even know themselves the importance of oral care. ppl are lazy
