  1. Lots of sales positions are open to teachers because they are comfortable speaking in front of others, can communicate ideas well, and know how to organize themselves. You may find that you have an ability in this direction.

  2. What about home tutoring?  What type of teaching degree did you get?  Is there a special area of expertise?

  3. I have toyed wiht leaving the profession too and looked at being a librarian. Granted you would probably have to go back and get an endorsement (not a full degree just some extra classes).

You could be a tutor professionally - tons of parents would love to have a teacher for a tutor.

You could also become a coach of some sort where maybe you aren't actually teaching but you are at a leadership level mentoring others.

  4. You could work in any company with a personnel department. How about the training departments of those companies, also.

There are night classes you could teach for adults.

Any job where you are in direct contact with people to help them.  The degree is great to have, regardless of what it was in.

  5. If by degree you mean credential, then that same credential entitles you to positions that are out of the classroom. Perhaps as a teacher coach in a specific subject area? Language arts? math? ELD?

There are also plenty of positions in developing curriculum or in delivery of professional development. However, many of these are open to teachers who have stuck it through in the classroom for a while, gathering experience.

You can always try the education section on craigslist.org under jobs.

Oh, there's always administration- getting yet another credential.

    Good luck!

  6. You could burn your degree and watch your investment turn to ash before your eyes.
